Aquarian Haze aka Fred Lundi from Harstad and his partner Pijar from Behind The River artist collective sharing their thoughts and ideas on their TV-tower project.
The nature guides you in the realms of music. One cannot live in this environment without being affected by its energy. So for us, to play our music outside in nature, was a form of exchange, appreciation and reciprocity.
We wished to play our music in symbiosis with the arctic environment around us to highlight the ways in which both the natural setting, and our form of electronic music could interact. Although there were many places to choose from, since town and nature are so integrated around us, we landed on the TV tower just overlooking Harstad yet totally embedded in the surrounding landscape.

Our goal then, was to play during the midnight sun and then perhaps in future, during the polar night under the aurora borealis, or northern lights.
The concept for this DIY project occurred in October 2019, culminating in our final production in July of 2020, was a joy to accomplish. Many meetings and long hours engaged in nighttime discussions and brainstorming occurred to see its culmination. With a shout-out to everyone who contributed and helped bring this project to fruition, including but not limited to the people we contacted for permits and electricity, as well as the camera, video and editing crew, and all of those that directed us along the way.
With such inspiring and wild landscapes found in Senja, Vesterålen, and Lofoten, there is no limit to the possible places we wish to play in future, whether deep in the forest or along some of the coastal islands. Especially now with the pandemic situation, it might even be a more effective way to go with the nature being so vast and accommodating.

Living above the polar circle, where electronic music is still quite niche, it can be a challenge to launch your own project with vested interest from others. We do this first and foremost for ourselves, our own interests and curiosities. While the small electronic community that does exist here is spread through-out the North, they make moments like these a pleasure to share. So we do so with open hearts through our audio-visual discoveries.
From all of us at Behind The River, thank you for your continued support, we hope you enjoy. Bless.
